Our Story

I'm In the Garden, LLC was co-founded by Max Taubert and Lisa McKhann in Spring of 2009! We welcome the opportunity to serve you and the planet with quality, lasting, earth-friendly products.

The two of us come to this collaboration each having flourished through many entrepeneurial and artistic ventures. Our paths of mutual friends and business criss-cross back 15 years to Bellingham, WA and the Methow Valley. Now we're I'm In the Garden, based in Duluth.

About the owners, Max & Lisa
Max is an entrepeneur and visionary. Before I'm In the Garden, Max's most recent project was purchasing the 100-year-old Ehler's Store in Cornucopia, WI. He lives beside it in a rooming house he's rehabbing with reclaimed wood and garden beds. Max is owner of Duluth Timber Company and True North Cedar. He spends Duluth nights on his custom, two-story barge afloat in the Duluth-Superior Harbor.

Lisa is an artist who has worked in virutally all media: modern dance, writing, visual art and design. She produces mixed-media performances under the auspices of Project Lulu and does writing and design for select businesses. She lives in Duluth with her husband Peter, where they watch for special ducks and garden six feet from Lake Superior.
